Lake of the Ozarks
Warsaw sits directly on the Upper Osage Arm of the Lake of
the Ozarks. Recreation opportunities abound. Fishing, boating and just plain
relaxing should be on your agenda. Don't expect to find the rat race you might
find at the Lake of the Ozark. This is the "Quiet End"! This
is also one of the few places remaining that has a season on snagging spoonbill.
This is a must for the serious fisherman!
Harry S. Truman Dam, Reservoir,
& Visitor's Center
Truman Reservoir in truly a water sports paradise.
This tree studded lake is a haven for some of the best fishing in the country.
With 55,000 surface acres, there is plenty of open water for your boating and
skiing pleasure and beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy the summer sun! The Visitor's
center sits high up on Kaysinger Bluff overlooking the the dam. The view from the
huge glass front is nothing short of breathtaking! The center is also host to some
of Benton County's richest history including replicas of ancient mastodon bone found in a
dig south of Warsaw before the reservoir was filled.
Swinging Bridge
The Warsaw swinging bridge is located on 7 highway on the
east edge of town. The bridge was used for car traffic until Truman Lake was
constructed in the 70's. This magnificent piece of history is now on the national register
and will be preserved for generations to come. The bridge spans the beautiful Osage
River and is a must see during your visit to Warsaw!
Lost Valley Fish Hatchery & Visitor's Center
The Lost Valley Fish Hatchery and Visitor's Center is
a state of the art facility producing fish (all varieties) for many
Midwest waterways and lakes and is one of the largest of its kind. There is a
wonderful aquarium for visitors to enjoy and learn about Missouri's aquatic life!
H.S. Truman State Park
While in the area, stop by the Harry S. Truman State Park
and take in one of their many scheduled wildlife programs. The park sits at the end
of UU right off 7 highway and is surrounded by beautiful Truman Lake. This is a must
for all nature lovers. Wildlife definitely abounds!
Benton County Museum
Located in the old school house on "School House
Hill" you will find some of the County's most precious history. In the museum
you will learn much about the history of our area. Old farming equipment, wearing
apparel, and the old jail are among the displays. The Museum is open from
Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Shawnee Bend Golf Course
This beautiful 9-hole course is owned and operated by the
city of Warsaw and is located adjacent to Truman Lake. What a wonderful way to enjoy
the surrounding area and take in your favorite sport!
Walking or Driving Tour
Stop by the Chamber and get your walking or driving tour
guide. This wonderful brochure will take you back in time to the 1800's. Your
mind will hear the steamboats running up and down the Osage River and the
Butterfield stage coach arriving in town from an exhausting trip! If you are a
history buff, you won't want to miss this self-guided tour.
Hooper House
This wonderful piece of history is located near the H.S.
Truman Visitor's Center. The house was moved from a farm that now is covered by
Truman Lake. The Corp of Engineers realizing its historic value, reconstructed the
home and it is now on display as part of a farmstead just below the Visitor's Center.
It really comes to life in October during our Heritage Day celebration!
Ed Elmore Cabin
This authentic log
cabin was erected in honor of the late Ed Elmore, founder of Heritage
Days. It is located at the Harry S. Truman Visitor's center. They
cabin was dedicated at the annual Heritage Days celebration in 1999. Mr.
Elmore worked for the Corp of Engineers and wanted to make sure that history was
handed down for generations to come. Thus Heritage

Drake Harbor
Located just off the downtown area of Warsaw, the harbor is
a wonderful place to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. With
public docks and boat launches, it is the perfect place to catch a fish or start your
boating day on the Upper Arm of Lake of the Ozarks.

Warsaw is very proud of its many festivals. We invite
